Inexpensive Curb Appeal Tricks

Try these inexpensive ways to improve the curb appeal of your home- especially when listing it for sale:

  1. A full house painting can cost you thousands- and often times that’s just not in the budget. Instead, focus on smaller projects– like painting the trim, the rusty mailbox or other smaller areas.  This may not be a total makeover, but cleaning up these small items can give you a big return on your investment.
  2. Create a sitting spot– this couldn’t be easier.  Just set up a spot on your front porch to amplify your ‘first look’ of attractiveness to potential buyers.  This makes your home look friendly and helps buyers envision themselves sitting on your front porch enjoying their new neighborhood. If you don’t have a small porch that can accommodate furniture, just placing a small bench can make a big difference.
  3. Trim those hedges! Even if you trim your lawn regularly, nothing is more unsightly than overgrown hedges that may even be blocking the view of your home. Simple trimming, edging and weeding your yard can make your property standout- and if you do it yourself, it won’t cost you anything.
  4. Hide your clutter! This means your garbage cans, recyclable containers, air conditioners, compost bins, and garden tools. If you don’t have a place to put all of these items, try arranging a few strategically placed potted plants in front or plant a bush to help conceal them.

These simple curb appeal tricks will help to sell your property before you know it!
