Ipswich is a coastal New England town, with a higly developed town center, surrounded by residential neighborhoods and miles of forests, fields, farmland, marshes, dunes, and beaches. Ipswich had a 2011 population of 13,151, is 33 square miles and located about 30 miles northeast of Boston. The Newburyport Commuter Rail Line stops at Ipswich’s rail station and Routes 1, 95 and 133 are easily accessible. Ipswich has exceptional river and ocean views and extensive open space and is home to Willowdale State Forest, Parker River Wildlife Refuge, and Crane Beach, noted as one of the most beautifully scenic beaches in all New England. There are also a large number of well-preserved seventeenth and eighteenth-century houses here.
