Rockport is a quaint seacoast village located at the tip of Cape Ann, about an hour drive northeast of Boston. Rockport has miles of beaches and rocky coastline and was once home to a thriving fishing port, a strong artists colony, and successful granite industry. Today, Rockport is both a residential and tourist community and still has quite a few local artisians as well as lobster fisherman.
Rockport’s downtown has a variety of specialty shops, art galleries, small eateries and wonderful restuarants that boast delicious cuisine and sensational waterfront views. No longer considered a ‘dry’ town, local restaurants can now serve alcohol. The approximately 7,000 residents enjoy a noteworthy public shcool system, beautiful beaches and the famed Shalin Liu Performance Center . Thecommuter rail station is located within walking distance to the downtown center.
